Give any shirt a quick Valentine's Day makeover with these DIY heart-shaped button covers. They're cute and super-duper quick to make. I mean, do you have scissors? Do you remember how to cut-out a heart? Then you're set, girl! Here's how it's done...
I once had a stockpile of Valentine's Day apparel tucked away for the occasion (thanks, Old Navy)! Now that my closet is totally devoid of graphic tees and heart-covered pajama pants, I needed a grownup-ish Valentine's Day idea! This quickie DIY project is a fabulous (and temporary) way to add some flare to your outfit.
These also make an awesome DIY Valentine's Day gift. Bonus points for being light-weight, so you can easily mail them to a friend as a Galentine's Day surprise!
HEART-SHAPED BUTTON COVERS
Makes: 5 to 6, depending on your shirt
1 piece red felt
Scissors
Buttoned shirt
1. Cut hearts out a red felt using scissors, about 1 to 2 inches.
2. One heart at a time, fold the bottom tip up and make a vertical snip to create a button hole.
3. With your shirt on, button the hearts onto your shirt.
TIP: For added security, iron fusible interfacing to the back of the felt (or glue a piece of card stock), it'll stiffen the fabric.
