The truth is, cast-iron cooking makes me feel like a good ol' American lady. I love a pan with history! For example, my family has skillets passed down through generations, perfectly slicked by decades of bacon grease and butter. I mean, does it get any better than that?
Well! Today Hoffman Media is giving away copies of their new cookbook Southern Cast Iron: Heirloom Recipes for Your Favorite Skillets to two Food & Femininity readers to help kick off a long fabulous summer of Americana cooking. Super exciting! I've been eyeing a few tempting recipes, like Blueberry Crumb Skillet Cake and Cheddar-Chile Hush Puppies...

I'd love to try my hand at some good ol' fashioned skillet corn bread (I've been making it the Yankee way-- in a regular pan-- eek)
ReplyDeleteHa! I make "Yankee Cornbread", too @Kim Blank But if we had more than one cast-iron skillet in our tiny apartment, I'd definitely make it in there all of the time :) xo
ReplyDeleteI love to cook catfish in my cast iron skillet! It's a Southern dish my mom taught me when I was a little girl :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have a cast iron pan yet! It was on my Christmas list but everyone overlooked it in favor of more fun gifts on my list! I want to make Dutch baby pancakes, I want to make fried chicken, I want to just stare at it and think about all the things I could make with it! :)
ReplyDeleteSomeone get this girl a cast-iron pan!!! :) You totally need (nay, deserve!) one @Sharon Garofalow My favorite is the old-school Lodge 10.25-inch skillet and it's only $15 on Amazon usually xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love making lazy one pan dishes for breakfast. Throw a few eggs on there, some ham, spinache, tomato, etc.
ReplyDeleteLiked both pages on fb! Email is sandyroo[at]live[dot]com
ReplyDeleteI follow everyone on Facebook as Carolsue Anderson.
ReplyDeleteI would make chicken fajitas with the cast iron skillet.
