Homemade Gift Idea: DIY Conversation Heart–Flavored Vodka!

/ Friday, February 1, 2013

We've all been drunk on love before. Here's your chance to share the sensation with special someone: Turn conversation heart candies into flavored vodka in just 15 minutes! Do you know what flavors Brach's includes in the classic conversation heart mix? I had no idea! Sweet mint, cherry, grape, apple and banana...

CONVERSATION HEART–FLAVORED VODKA MAKES: about 3 cups vodka

1 bag conversation hearts (about 160)
3 to 4 cups vodka

Separate the conversation hearts by color. For each color, put hearts and vodka (about 1/2 cup for every 20 hearts or 1 cup for every 40 hearts) in a clean water bottle or other resealable plastic container. Let soak 15 minutes, shaking vigorously every few minutes, until the hearts are mostly dissolves and the vodka is flavored/colored. Strain into jars or bottles.

Fun fact: Here's how the colors in my Brach's conversation heart bag were distributed...
