Cake for a Cause: V-Day 2009

/ Tuesday, March 3, 2009

There are some things that are even more important to me than baked goods...Food & Femininity partners with V-Day 2009.

This weekend V-Day is coming to New York City. V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. It promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations, creating broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM) and sexual slavery.

So often the causes we support seem somewhat removed from our immediate circumstances. Violence against women is something that touches each of our lives in ways that you might not even be aware of. For too long women of all ages, not just in foreign places but right in your community, have been silenced out of fear or shame. This weekend, please come out and show your support.
