Have you ever found yourself on the couch in dire need of homemade chocolate cake with nary an egg nor stick of butter in sight? Yeah! It happens. Like, more often than you'd think, right? Did you know that cake mix plus soda is all you need for a seriously amazing dessert? Nothing else! It's a bodega babe's dream. No grocery store nearby, no problem!

I love the subtle combo of chocolate cake mix and cream soda. If you're looking for something different, though, feel free to swap in ginger ale...cherry soda...root beer...use your imagination!
Since the "recipe" is so easy, you can go crazy with decorations. Something as simple as melted chocolate chips and rainbow sprinkles (pictured) can turn a plain cake into a masterpiece. Other options: Whipped cream and fresh fruit, loads of crazy ice cream, confectioners' sugar, proper frosting. You know the drill xox
