My boyfriend is convinced I have a serious problem when it comes to New Girl. I'm fairly convinced that Zooey Deschanel's character, Jessica Day, may be my long lost cupcake-loving best friend...but am I really alone on this!?
I'm going to assume that, like me, you're beyond excited for the premiere of New Girl on Fox tonight at 9 o'clock EST. Want to watch it together? I was thinking we could do some "live commenting" on this post during the new episode. We could all chat about it as it's happening! Is that something you'd be interested in?
And since we'll (obviously) need a special snack for the occasion, here's a quick recipe for New Girl cupcakes. They were either going to be glasses cupcakes or "bang" cupcakes but I didn't even know where to begin with the later. Anyway! These easy glasses cupcakes are simple enough to whip up after work tonight. Start with store-bought or boxed/homemade cupcakes, frost and top with chocolate Warby Parkers.
I already created a template for the chocolate glasses. You can download the free PDF, here! I didn't realize I was out of piping bags when I began this project, so I made my own parchment paper piping cone (below) which I learned to do in culinary school. It's a fun trick! Chow actually posted a fabulous how-to video for parchment cone making on Youtube, here's the link.
GLASSES CUPCAKES
SERVES: 4
1/2 cup vanilla frosting
4 chocolate or vanilla cupcakes2 cups chocolate chips
Black sanding sugar (optional)
1. Spread the frosting on the cupcakes in an even layer using an offset spatula. Refrigerate until ready to use.
2. Put the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until melted, about 2 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, put the glasses template under 1 sheet wax paper on a cookie sheet. Transfer melted chocolate to a pastry bag fitting with a very small round tip or homemade piping cone. Use the template to pipe the glasses onto the wax paper. Dust with black sanding sugar, if desired, about freeze at least 1 hour until very firm.
4. Carefully remove chocolate glasses from the parchment using an offset spatula. Place on cupcakes and snuggle in for a night of New Girl together!
I love New Girl too! These cupcakes are super cute. :)
ReplyDeleteI literally have New Girl marked on my agenda for today. The witty banter is amazing.
ReplyDeleteMe too, @Carlene Thomas RD!! It really is the best show ever. Just looking at "Nick" makes me belly laugh :) Can't wait to see what happens xox
ReplyDeleteUGH, the show is just too amazing!! Thank you so much @cupcakemuffin!
ReplyDeleteMy husband looked at me the first time he saw the show and was like "NICK MILLER IS THE MAN!". I was just like...oh HELL no.
ReplyDeleteHa! Maybe not the best role model, true. Maybe I should be worried then that Schmidt is my boyfriend's favorite character...
