Remember when I told you I hid a massive stash of candy from boyfriend? Well I kind-of hide craft supplies from him, too, and the storage situation is dire (darn you Brooklyn-sized apartments)! Consequentially, I can only add to my collection of stamps, ribbons, paints, felt bits, etc. when it's really, really necessary or practical—but where's the fun in that?
A ha! I have a solution, though. Instead of hoarding seasonal stamps that take up precious space, make disposable stamps using things around the house...like carrot scraps! That's what I did to make these DIY Valentine's Day treat bags this weekend. Follow the instructions below or find me on Vine for a little how-to video!
HOW-TO MAKE: CARROT STAMPS
- 1 large carrot
- Pairing knife
- Paper towels
- Acrylic paint
1. Cut the carrot into 3pieces, width-wise (this makes each stamp easier to handle and gives you theopportunity to make 3 different sizes, since most carrots are taperedslightly)!
2. Trim the ends of eachpiece to make them level/flat. Using a pairing knife, carve out the desiredstamp shape.
3. Pat dry using paper toweland dip in acrylic paint. Do a test stamp on scrap paper to make sure the shapeis exactly how you want it.
Nice homemade valentines gift bags. I like this design very much.
