Frosty Friday: Carolina-Style Cheerwine Ice Cream Floats!

/ Friday, February 15, 2013

Hello, hello! Before we part ways for the long weekend, I'd love to share this super-quick dessert idea with you: Cheerwine Floats! Quick little ditty about Cheerwine: It's an iconic cherry-flavored soda from Salisbury, North Carolina. You used to only be able to buy it in the south—and it's still pretty hard to find in New York City—but Cheerwine expanded their distribution two summers ago and it's a bigger deal than ever. I made these as a surprise dessert for boyfriend last night. I dig how the vanilla ice cream and cherry soda froth up together into a bubbly rose-colored drink. Here's how you make 'em...

CHEERWINE ICE CREAM FLOAT
MAKES: 1 drink

2 scoops vanilla ice cream
1 bottle Cheerwine soda
Maraschino cherries, for topping

Put the ice cream in a tall chilled glass. Top with soda and maraschino cherries. That's it!

I mean, come on! Does it get any easier than this!? xox Erin
