The reason why I bring up Milk Bar - a number of doughnut flavored soft serves have appeared on their menu (including Old Fashioned Apple Cider and Chocolate) and have set sweet lovers on a frenzy! Confection flavored ice creams are popping up all over the internet...even cupcake ice cream.
Well! I could not resist making a frozen doughnut flavored treat of my own. Since I lack an ice cream maker, I got a little creative and the DOUGHNUT MILKSHAKE! was born. The doughnut flavor is subtle and sweet and sure to impress.
The trick to my milkshake is doughnut milk! No fancy appliances needed. Try it at home and wow your friends...
DOUGHNUT MILKSHAKES
5 glazed doughnuts1.5 cups milk
1 to 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Pinch of cinnamon
3 scoops French vanilla ice cream
Glazed doughnuts, for garnish
1. Bring 5 glazed doughnuts, the milk, vanilla and a pinch of cinnamon to a simmer in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook, uncovered, for 20 minutes. Remove pan from heat, cool and strain into an airtight container. Store milk in the refrigerator overnight.
2. Combine half of the doughnut milk and vanilla ice cream in a blender until smooth. Slowly add remaining milk until your milkshake reaches your desired consistency. (Flavor with additional vanilla if desired.)
3. Divide milkshake between two tall glasses. Garnish the rim of each glass with a glazed doughnut. Enjoy!
I had that :)
