I feel like today's the perfect day for a giveaway, any objections? We're about a week out from Valentine's Day and (per usual) I'm behind on my card-writing and crafting. What about you?

My goodness! Happy September, all. I can hardly believe we're back to school and (almost) back to fall. Doesn't it feel like a fresh start? I love this time of year!
Homemade Valentine's Day Gift Bags (Using CARROT Stamps)!

Remember when I told you I hid a massive stash of candy from boyfriend? Well I kind-of hide craft supplies from him, too, and the storage situation is dire (darn you Brooklyn-sized apartments)! Consequentially, I can only add to my collection of stamps, ribbons, paints, felt bits, etc. when it's really, really necessary or practical—but where's the fun in that?

I found these rad little Wilton bone sprinkles on my way home from a photo shoot yesterday and had to put them to good use. This idea popped into my head: Melt really delicious good-quality chocolate and decorate with my new bone sprinkles = instant Halloween treat. What do you think?

Welcome back! What did you do with your long weekend? We're still hosting family at our apartment so I'm not returning to reality quite yet. But I did want to share the little welcome package I made for our guests: a bag of homemade street peanuts and a metro card. Both have been super handy this weekend. We're off to the Guggenheim Museum and JG Melon's today for burgers and country-cut fries. Oh! Here's a recipe for New York candied peanuts from the brilliant David Lebovitz if you'd like to try it. Let's meet back tomorrow, okay?
Freebie! "Bon Appetit" Tags from Eat, Drink, Chic!

How adorable are these "Bon Appetit" tags from Eat Drink Chic? The fabulously creative and generous Amy Moss designed 'em to be cutlery tags and but I think they're perfect for decorating an edible gift too, just like this cake I wrapped up today. Go to Eat Drink Chic for the free downloadable PDF, then print and cut out as many tags as your heart desires :) Pretty cool, huh?

Back To School Shopping: Baked Good Packaging

I need to do a little "back to school" shopping to get ready for fall: new cupcake liners, new outfits I can wear from the kitchen out to dinner (tricky transition), new serving pieces and definitely new supplies for baked good packaging. What about you? Any change-of-season items you're hankering for? I'll post the highlights from my own list over the next few weeks. I'm loving these!

No commentsHow cute is this mountain-shaped kitchen board from French designer Caroline Gomez? I just want to put teeny sandwiches on it, then gobble 'em all up...find it over at Bird On a Wire.
Hipster Branding: Updated Food-Company Logos

I'm a total sucker for clean, modern logos—I'm branding bait! I mean, I bought coffee beans all the way from LA just because I like Handsome Coffee's design scheme. So I was particularly tickled when I came upon Hipster Branding, a site dedicated to styling house-name brands with a dandy new look. If I didn't know any better, Kentucky Fried Chicken (below) could be the most popular fried chicken–joint in Williamsburg. Am I right? Check out how they made over these iconic food brands...
